Airport security systems need to be revised after the Brussels Bombings.

Sniffer dogs for airport security

After the wake of the Brussels airport bombings in March airport security throughout the world has been increased. Many airports deployed armed police, which stroll the airports land and airside.

There is now an increased pressure of airport security threats whilst trying to maintain a quick waiting and checking in times for passengers.

airport security sniffer dogsThe Denver International Airport is one of the first airports in America to be trialing sniffer dogs in order to detect traces of explosives. Sniffer dogs have been used in some airports around the world for years, as they can smell 1000 times better than humans.

Sniffer dogs are very effective in detecting explosive materials much quicker than many other techniques currently used in Airports worldwide. Introducing these sniffer dogs will reduce passenger waiting times at security check points because there will be a decrease rate of removing shoes and having a body scan check.

An expert in airport security in the United Kingdom have suggested the deployment of security officers who are trained in recognizing unusual behavior will help reduce the risk of similar attacks in airports around the world.

Whilst sniffer dogs are the most effective mobile explosive technology out there, other techniques to detect an airport security threat should also be implemented. The Annual Airport Security Summit held in May this year will discuss key issues currently in airports worldwide.
