      Jothijs van Gaalen (1978) graduated with a M.Sc graduation in Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineering in 2004 at Delft University of Technology. After graduation, he started as a business developer at the Royal BAM Group.

      During the period 2007-2010, Jothijs worked as a structural and geotechnical engineer for the Dutch contractor TBI and was involved into several infrastructural projects in the Netherlands: the Rotterdam Central Metro and Train Station, Coentunnel, Hanzelijn railway (train station Lelystad) and the motorway extension A4 in the southern part of the Netherlands.

      In 2010 Jothijs became head of the Structural Modelling department at BAM Infraconsult, the engineering company of the Civil Sector of BAM.

      Nowadays, the department has a leading role in the field of 3D (multidisciplinary) modelling and BIM in several (inter)national projects. Since 2013 he is responsible for the implementation of BIM in the projects of BAM Infra. Jothijs has currently a leading role in the BIM Council of Royal BAM Group.

      He is a board member of the Hydraulic Engineering department of the Dutch Royal Society of Engineers.
